Georginio Wijnaldum played the full 90 minutes as Liverpool lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash on Tuesday night.

The 62-cap Netherlands international actually boasted a 94% pass success rate, according to WhoScored, but he only made one tackle and did not contribute in the final third – registering zero shots and no completed dribbles.

And it would be fair to say that not too many of the Liverpool supporters were impressed with what they saw from the midfielder at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Indeed, many took to social media to slam his performance in Madrid.

Meanwhile, one fan no longer wants the 29-year-old to sign a new deal at Anfield.

Call yourself a Liverpool expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?

Wijnaldum’s current contract at Anfield will actually expire at the end of next season, and this supporter isn’t interested in the Dutchman penning fresh terms judging by their reaction on social media.

Another fan claimed that the club should consider folding completely if Wijnaldum is not sold, which is drastic to say the very least.

Liverpool will have the chance to turn the tie around at Anfield next month, but the fact that Atletico managed to prevent the European champions from scoring an away goal could be huge heading into the reverse fixture.

Meanwhile, a number of Liverpool fans have been reacting to some injury news regarding one of their first-team players.
