There will have been plenty of relief when James Tavernier was included in Steven Gerrard’s starting lineup for Rangers’ match against Hibernian.
That feeling hadn’t disappeared by the time the final whistle was blown, with the Gers coming out on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline thanks to goals from George Edmundson and Ianis Hagi.
When the 28-year-old tweeted about being back on the pitch, plenty of fans took the opportunity to show their appreciation for his contribution.
He had been absent from the last three league games played by Rangers, and the response made it clear that he was severely missed by fans.
There were various fans welcoming him into the team, while one stated that “we needed you back”.

It will now be hoped that he is able to stay fit and help out the team moving forward, as they look to overtake Celtic at the top of the table.
Gerrard’s side had failed to win either of their two games before Tavernier’s return, and fans feel it is “no coincidence” that his reinstatement in the side has come in the same game that the team got back to winning ways.
They also claimed that his “presence was felt”, which can be backed up by the fact that it was his dead-ball delivery into the box that led to Edmundson’s equaliser.
Hagi’s winner also came from one of his set-pieces, as Hibernian were unable to convincingly clear his corner.
Meanwhile, a damning verdict has been delivered on a Rangers talisman.
