The Red Devils battled back from two goals down to earn a share of the points in a dramatic 2-2 draw at Goodison Park. They feared that their efforts had been in vain deep into stoppage-time time when the Toffees were awarded a spot-kick.

Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt had tangled with former United star Ashley Young, leading to him going down inside the box. Referee Andy Madley awarded a penalty, after spotting a shirt pull, but was advised by those in the VAR booth to take a second look at the incident on a pitch-side monitor.

The original decision was reversed on review, leaving Everton fuming and Maguire relieved. Unsurprisingly, there was only one subject of conversation behind the scenes afterwards. Maguire was seen chatting with England colleague Jordan Pickford outside the dressing rooms.

That debate was interrupted by another Three Lions defender, James Tarkowski, who the report as saying: "H [Harry], you better get out of here quick, you sh*t yourself!” Maguire responded with: “It's not a pen, but I'm surprised they overturned it.” He went on to suggest that Young, who went over rather theatrically, “hadn’t helped himself”.
